Kate Moran works in a variety of media, including sculpture, photography, drawing, and painting. She received her BA at Antioch College in Ohio, a Certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and her MFA at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is an alum of the CFEVA Visual Artist Fellowship and currently serves on CFEVA's Board of Artistic Advisors.
Kate is an Associate Professor at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Since 1989 she has taught contemporary art seminars, interdisciplinary studio courses and is a resident critic for the MFA and Low-Res MFA programs.
Her artist residencies include the MacDowell Colony and the John Michael Kohler Arts/ Industry residency in Sheboygen, WI. Kate was awarded a Pew Fellowship in photography in 1993-94, and in addition her work has been acknowledged by multiple Grants from Pew, numerous awards from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and the Leeway Foundation. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Morris Gallery of the Pennsylvania Academy, at the List Gallery of Swarthmore College, The John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygen, WI, The olin Art Gallery at Kenyon College in Ohio, and the Williams Center for the Arts at Lafayette College. Her work has also been exhibited in one-person shows at Gallery Joe in Philadelphia, the Sculpture Center in NYC, and the Bernice Steinbaum Gallery in New York and Miami Florida, as well as in group shows at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Delaware Art Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and Arcadia University. Her work can be found in numerous public and private collections.
