Alice Norman Mandel, Palm Trees, 2021. Watercolor, 16 x 12 inches.
Alice Norman Mandel writes of her work: "I don’t remember the time before I was drawing pictures. It’s just always been part of my life. And even after all of these many years I am still lured and challenged by a blank sheet of paper. Each mark leads to and affects the next one, ad infinitum."
Alice Norman Mandel has a B.A. from the University of Chicago, History of Art and M.A. Harvard University, Fine Arts. Her Philadelphia studio is in a building that originally manufactured uniforms for the Union Army in the Civil War. Now it contains about 30 artist studios.
