Ava Blitz is not constrained by a set material or approach. Blitz's work develops through creative and experimental expression of process, technology, and material, which in turn is influenced by cultural tradition. 

Ava Blitz is a visual artist who currently divides her time between studio work in sculpture, painting, works on paper, photography, and public art. Blitz's public works and commissions are many, including installations at the Martin Luther King Older Adult Center, the Philadelphia International Airport and the University City Science Center, created under Philadelphia’s 1% for Art Programs, and as far away as Scotland and Tokyo, Japan. Ava Blitz served on an International Symposium panel in Japan, and has lectured on public art for the American Institute of Architects, the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, and the Michener Art Museum. She has been the recipient of numerous honors, awards, and fellowships, including a CFEVA Visual Artist Fellowship, many of which have funded her public art projects. These include grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Artsthe National Endowment for the Arts, and the Mid-Atlantic Arts, Leeway, Geraldine R. Dodge, Independence. Jerome, and Japan Foundations. Blitz has shown locally at the Michener Art Museum, the Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts, the Philadelphia Art Alliance, Grounds for Sculpture, the Noyes Museum, and the Allentown Art Museum. From 1986 to 1998 she taught at Bryn Mawr College, where she directed the fine art department.
