In my art practice I work with sculpture, installation, collage, photography and mixed media. Much of my art stems from personal narrative, exploring grief and familial relationships, often through domestic objects. In all my work I prefer to keep a transparency of assembly, materials and presentation.

In Private Collection, I’ve taken paper plates and repainted them to replicate pieces from the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s European Decorative Arts Department. When I worked in their conservation department, I spent hours getting to know their collection up close. The floral dinnerware always attracted me, reminding me of a small collection of dessert plates my grandmother owned.

Elizabeth Hamilton, originally from outside Boston, relocated to Philadelphia to attend the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There she received her MFA and since graduating she has exhibited at museums and galleries including the Philip Muriel Berman Museum, the Delaware Contemporary, Cantor Art Gallery, the Woodmere Museum and InLight Richmond at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She was a Samuel Fleisher Wind Challenge recipient and her work can be found in the West Collection, Drexel University and Harper College. She currently resides in the Philadelphia area, Flourtown, PA with her husband and two young children.
