Ellen R. Brooks is a Philadelphia artist and teacher. Her artistic career began at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, later earning an MFA in 2009. Her education and work spans printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture, and sight-specific installation. Brooks has received 3 Residency Grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts; 2 from The Philadelphia Museum of Art, with The School District/Archdiocese of Philadelphia; and a 1 month Residency at The Burren College of Art in Ireland. Brooks has had 6 Solo Shows; 8 Select Group and Invitational Exhibits; 14 juried exhibits, including The Reading Museum and Woodmere Art Museum. Additionally, Brooks’ metal, paper and figurative works have been shown in a Featured Installation Exhibit at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York; 9 site-specific installations, and 4 juried exhibitions. She has been featured in 10 articles in Philadelphia, local and PA newspapers, documenting solo shows, installations and residencies.
