Morgan Thomas Shankweiler splits her artistic time between the Philadelphia Region and Mid-Coast Maine. Shankweiler graduated from Williams College in 2007 with majors in studio art and sociology and developed her skill as a painter in her time studying Mughal miniature painting with Ajay Sharma in Jaipur, India and as a young artist living in The Distillery in South Boston. She has worked as a cake sculptor (when that was super trendy), a set designer, an illustrator, an art conservator and a muralist, but her passion lies in her personal work. Her more recent drawings and paintings examine the minutia of time, memory and story through contemporary still-life and portraiture. During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, Shankweiler’s work as artist and mother has been redirected and has resulted artistically in a zen practice of drawing/painting intricate ropes and knots. She is excited to share this work still in an exploration phase.
